SOP for Cinemas in Sarawak

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has allowed cinemas in Sarawak to operate since 1st July.

The standard operating procedures (SOP) for the operation of cinemas in is set by the state’s local government and housing ministry.

According to the SOP released by SDMC on their website, it is compulsory for every cinema operator to collect their staff and customers personal details including name, email, time and date of entry to premise for the purpose of contract tracing.

Customers below the age of 12 and over 60 years old are not allowed to enter the cinemas.

Online booking or purchasing the tickets through kiosk is encouraged among customers.

Each cinema operator must provide thermal scanner and hand sanitiser at the entrance of the premise.

The SOP also stated that staff or customers with body temperature of more than 37.5°C are not allowed to enter the premise and are encouraged to go to the nearest hospital or clinic.

The premise must also be cleaned and disinfected before it is allowed to be open to public and the theatre hall must be disinfected before and after screening.

The cleaning and disinfecting process must be done at least three times a day.

Cinema operators must ensure social distancing of at least one meter in the premises and provide briefing about the SOP to the staffs before screening starts.
